How To Fix Sticky Slides
Over time the slides on your trumpet or cornet might become sticky. This can be because a build up of grime or calcium which can dry hard. Also it is normal for the slides to slightly corrode and brass to turn brown which can also contribute to your slides sticking. It is worth avoiding vaseline as this seems to dry out which can cause stuck slide. By regularly using a good quality slide grease you could save yourself some costly repair bills.
In this video I will show you how to clean your slides if they are sticking.
You can use brasso to clean the slides. Polish the slides with a cloth with a bit of brasso then wipe of with a clean cloth. Yon can also clean the valves like this too. Never use something abrasive on the valves like sand paper. Once the slides are clean make sure they are greased before put them back.

A cleaning rod is good for pulling a cloth through the valve casing to keep them clean
Tuning Slide Grease
After cleaning your slides you will need to grease them before you put them back. This will stop them from getting stuck.
Valve Oil
You must oil your valves regularly to help them run smoothy. Oiling them will also make them last longer.
